OUR STORY

Photo Solutions has been manufacturing and designing cutting-edge encoder technology for the last 30 years. Since our inception, we have been dedicated to quality products that act as cost-effective solutions to engineering problems. Our customers, team members, and products set us apart from the competition.

OUR MISSION

At its core, our mission is simple: crafting precision engineering.

We manufacture every product with precise calculations, measurements, and attention to detail. Our interactions with customers, who are the heart of what we do, also come down to precision. From concept to clear-cut solutions, we create custom products that are uncompromisingly reliable and innovative.

1989

Brad Curtis starts Photo Solutions in Vernonia, Oregon after 12 years at Renco Encoders in Santa Barbara, California. BEI Encoders becomes the first and only customer for 3 years, offering engineering and financial assistance.

1994

Photo Solutions becomes the primary encoder disc supplier for other OEM encoder companies including Encoder Products, Allied Motion, Ametek, and Agilent.

2005

As our customer base expands beyond OEM encoder companies, Photo Solutions builds a new manufacturing facility in Vernonia and adds processing capability.

2017

The Vernonia factory floods and we move to Forest Grove, Oregon after a FEMA buyout.

2020

As our customer base expands beyond motion control applications, we move to a new 10,000 square foot facility in Wilsonville, Oregon to absorb growth.

Join Our Team

If you have an eye for detail and passion for the photonics industry, we’d love to welcome you to our team. Our members are design-oriented, customer-focused, and work hard to engineer the perfect solution for every client’s needs. Based out of our new facility in Wilsonville, we are growing our team to accommodate a variety of custom orders for our clients all over the world.

We’ve been working with Brad and his team at Photo Solutions for several years now to help us develop new products for our wheeled rotary encoders.  His team always provides excellent customer service, very competitive pricing and quick turnaround.  They are also very responsive to last-minute design changes as well, which is much appreciated in our fast-paced photoelectrics industry.
